abstract = "Geological alignments reflect the features of the subsurface.
These features are essential for studies of economic geology and
are likely to be interpreted on satellite images. The present
study aims at extracting relief and drainage lineations and
lineaments, using the CCD-CBERS-2B images aiming to analyze the
structural control metallogenic in the scale of 1:50.000 of
Currais Novos Topographic Map. This area is at the central-south
part of the Mesoregion Central Potiguar, economically
characterized by mining, activity usually related to structural
control. The steps of the work were: creation of a georrefered
database; image restoration; transformation through main
component; extraction of relief and drainage alignments; and rose
diagrams. After extracted, the lineations and lineaments were
interpreted as possible fracture systems. The study of the
proprieties of alignments characterizes the homologous zones,
which indicate different geologic-structural domains, which
probably influenced the metallogenesis of mineral occurrences, due
to the structural control.",
